ROTARY STEAM TUBE DRYER IS A ROTATING SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER WHICH, VERY EFFICIENTLY, UTILIZES THE LATENT HEAT OF STEAM TO TRANSFER ENERGY TO THE MATERIAL BEING PROCESSED, TO DRIVE OFF WATER. STEAM TUBE DRYERS UTILIZE LOW TEMPERATURE DRYING, GENERATING A VERY UNIFORM HEATING OF THE PARTICLES BEING PROCESSED. TYPICAL STEAM PRESSURES RANGE FROM 15 PSIG TO 150 PSIG, BUT HIGH PRESSURE UNITS. UP TO 450 PSIG, ARE USED IN CERTAIN PROCESS OF PRODUCTION.
A STEAM AND CONDENSATE MANIFOLD CHAMBER, STEAM CHEST IS MOUNTED ON THE PRODUCT DISCHARGE END OF THE DRYER. THIS STEAM CHEST DISTRIBUTES STEAM TO EACH OF THE STEAM TUBES AND ALSO COLLECTS THE CONDENSATES FORMED AS THE STEAM. TRANSFERS ITS LATENT HEAT TO THE MATERIAL BEING PROCESSED. STEAM IS DELIVERED TO AND CONDENSATE IS REMOVED FROM THE STEAM MANIFOLD BY MEANS OF A 'FOURWENTS' LARGE SIZE OF ROTARY STEAM JOINTS.
THE RESIDUAL NON CONDENSABLE GASES, LEFT INSIDE OF THE STEAM TUBES. ONCE THE STEAM HAS CONDENSED, ARE VENTED THROUGH A STAINLESS STEEL FLEXIBLE HOSE CONNECTION ATTACHED TO A COMMON “VENT HEADER" MOUNTED AT THE FEED END OF THE STEAM TUBE DRYER.
‘FOURWENTS’ LARGE SIZES ROTARY STEAM JOINTS ARE CUSTOM ENGINEERED FOR THEIR SPECIFIC APPLICATION IN STEAM TUBE DRYERS.
STEAM TUBE ROTARY DRYERS ARE USED FOR DRYING A RANGE OF MATERIALS FROM FINE POWDERS TO LARGE PARTICULATE SOLIDS AND SLUDGES. THE STEAM TUBE ROTARY DRYER CONSISTS OF A HORIZONTAL ROTATING SHELL FITTED WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF HEATING TUBES.
STEAM IS INTRODUCED INTO THE TUBES THROUGH A MANIFOLD LOCATED AT THE DISCHARGE END OF THE CYLINDER/DRYER. THE MANIFOLD IS CONNECTED TO A ‘FOURWENTS’ ROTARY STEAM JOINT WHICH ADMITS THE STEAM AND CONTINUOUSLY DRAINS THE CONDENSATE.
